Our stainless steel collars are durable and designed to hold up and look great, even after being worn for extended periods. That being said, they are not impervious to the elements of everyday life.
During the course of ordinary wear, your collars, cuffs, anklets and pendants are exposed to dirt, dust, perspiration, surface contact, makeup, and natural skin oils, and household chemicals (like chlorine and hairspray). Over time, exposure to these elements will dull the finish and occasional maintenance is needed to keep them looking good.
The good news is with a little routine cleaning and care, your items will keep looking good for a long time.
Cleaning Stainless Steel Collars, Cuffs and Anklets
Stainless Steel is durable and generally resistant to tarnishing, but it can get scratch marks and start to look dull over time. Fortunately, caring and cleaning your stainless steel collar is relatively easy. These instructions work for our rigid jewelry, cable jewelry and chains.
Routine Maintenance
The secret to keeping your Eternity stainless steel jewelry looking great is to keep it free of dust and dirt.
What you need:
Mild liquid dishwashing soap
Clean small micro-fiber cloths (3)
Warm Water
Polishing cloth (optional)
1. Start with a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap and a cup or two of warm water – enough so the water feels soapy.
2. Using a soft micro-fiber cloth dipped in the soapy water, gently clean the surface with mild pressure. Be sure to follow the grain of the metal.
3. With a clean microfiber towel dipped in fresh warm water (no soap), clean off the entire surface, taking extra care to get into the nooks and cranny’s. You can also dip your item into water to get a full rinse.
4. Gently wipe dry with a fresh, dry micro-fiber cloth.
5. Still need a little extra shine? Use a jewelry polishing cloth to brighten up the finish.
Removing Scratches
Despite the strength and durability of stainless steel, it is still possible to get minor scratches and surface wear. These tips can help you get the shine back in your item.
Take extra caution when trying to remove any scratches at home. While we’ve been able to use these steps successfully, you do risk making damaging the finish if you are not careful. If unsure, try this on a small part of your jewelry first. It might be better to take your item to a local jeweler to have it professionally polished.
